Roy D. Gibson started Feeders Supply as a feed-store serving area livestock farms, a natural step considering his agriculture background having grown up on a farm in Spencer County.

Gibson realized a new retail category was emerging - the pet food and supply store. His daughters, Pam and Diane, joined the company to help implement the next phase of growth, He converted the front of the Baxter Avenue warehouse located in Louisville, Kentucky into a retail store. The store opened its doors on December 27,1987.

Feeders Supply started opening stores in neighboring states, becoming a regional chain with a reputation for knowledgeable staff and a wide range of pet products.

After the death of Gibson, his daughter Pam Longwell took over as president and CEO. Pam Longwell w quoted as saying, "My father was the wisest businessman I have ever met. was blessed to be able to work by his side in our company for 17 years. I certainly learned a lot from him about how to run a successful retail operation. He knew that the most important part of any company is the customer. If you don't have customers, you don't have a business."

Feeders Supply launches their website making it easier and more convenient for pet parents to shop local.

Feeders Supply changes their name to Feeders Pet Supply. Private labels such as Incredipet, Intuition, and Pure Flight are launched.

Houchens Industries acquires Feeders Pet Supply, and the company is now 100% Employee Owned.
