As we celebrate Feeders Pet Supply's 65th anniversary, I'm filled with immense pride and gratitude for the company's journey and history.

Since our founding in 1959, we have been driven by one simple but powerful belief: pets are family, and every pet parent has the ability to be a hero for their beloved companion.

Roy Gibson, our founder, and his daughter Pam Longwell opened a small neighborhood feed store that has grown into a family of pet supply stores dedicated to enriching the lives of pets and those who love them. Over the decades, we've watched the pet industry evolve, but our commitment to providing the best products, services, and care has never wavered. From premium pet foods to expert grooming services, we have always focused on one thing—helping you give your pets the happy, healthy lives they deserve.

We are proud that in 2023 Feeders Pet Supply became 100% employee-owned and I am excited for the future of the company and all our associate owners. We are committed to creating a world where every pet has a home, and every home has a pet. We will continue to innovate, grow, and serve you, always staying true to the values that have guided us for the past 65 years.

Our History

1959

Roy D. Gibson started Feeders Supply as a feed-store serving area livestock farms, a natural step considering his agriculture background having grown up on a farm in Spencer County.

1987

Gibson realized a new retail category was emerging - the pet food and supply store. His daughters, Pam and Diane, joined the company to help implement the next phase of growth, He converted the front of the Baxter Avenue warehouse located in Louisville, Kentucky into a retail store. The store opened its doors on December 27, 1987.

1990

Feeders Supply started opening stores in neighboring states, becoming a regional chain with a reputation for knowledgeable staff and a wide range of pet products.

2004

After the death of Gibson, his daughter Pam Longwell took over as president and CEO. Pam Longwell was quoted as saying, “My father was the wisest businessman I have ever met. I was blessed to be able to work by his side in our company for 17 years. I certainly learned a lot from him about how to run a successful retail operation. He knew that the most important part of any company is the customer. If you don’t have customers, you don’t have a business.”

2020

Feeders Supply launches their website making it easier and more convenient for pet parents to shop local.

2021

Feeders Supply changes their name to Feeders Pet Supply. Private labels such as Incredipet, Intuition, and Pure Flight are launched.

2023-Present

Houchens Industries acquires Feeders Pet Supply, and the company is now 100% Employee Owned.

Through the years...

We have had the honor to work with and/or sponsor over 40 rescue groups and adoption organizations.

We have helped over 175,000 pets find furever homes with in-store adoptions.
