Usage
Clopidogrel should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
Side effects may include stomach upset, such as vomiting, diarrhea, or lack of appetite. Long term administration in cats may lead to anemia. Serious side effects may include bruising, difficulty breathing, or blood in vomit or feces (blood can appear red or black). Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
The following drugs can potentially interact with clopidogrel: amlodipine, aspirin, chloramphenicol, cimetidine, cyclosporine, diltiazem, fluconazole, fluoxetine, heparins, isoniazid, ketoconazole, NSAID agents, omeprazole, opioids, paroxetine, phenytoin, rifampin, rivaroxaban, sertraline, telmisartan, torsemide, verapamil, and warfarin. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, and a drug interaction may be anticipated. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. 
Cautions
This medication does not have an FDA approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals.
Do not use this medication in pets that are allergic to it or in those with active bleeding problems. Clopidogrel should be used cautiously in pregnant or nursing pets. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
