Usage
*For complete product information, please review the full prescribing information in the manufacturer package insert.
Felimazole Coated Tablets should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule. Your veterinarian will monitor your pet’s bloodwork while taking this medication.
Do not break or crush tablets. Wear protective gloves to prevent direct contact with litter, feces, urine, or vomit of treated cats, and broken or moistened tablets. All pet owners should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the medication or if contact is made with the litter or bodily fluids of a treated cat (even if gloves are worn).
This medication can be given with or without food, though your veterinarian may recommend giving it with food due to its bitter taste. If your pet vomits or appears unwell after receiving a dose on an empty stomach, give future doses with food or a small treat. If vomiting continues, contact your veterinarian.
Missed doses
Administer the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once.
If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please consult your veterinarian.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (77°F, excursions permitted between 59 and 86°F), out of the reach of children and pets. Keep the container tightly closed in order to protect from moisture.
Exposure to extreme temperatures or moisture may affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store medications properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).
Side effects
The most common side effects of this medication are decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea/loose stools, skin lesions, and abnormal vocalization.
These effects may be more likely to occur at the start of treatment and usually diminish over time.
Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has complete loss of appetite, any unusual bruising or signs of bleeding, severe weakness, facial itching/sores, or if you notice yellowing of the skin, gums, or whites of the eyes.
This is not a complete list of all possible side effects. Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.
If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.
