Product details
Galliprant (grapiprant tablets) for Dogs is a prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) EP4 receptor antagonist, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs.
  • Galliprant is the first-of-its-kind targeted non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for osteoarthritis (OA) pain and inflammation relief in dogs
  • Targets the source of the pain while reducing impact on kidney and liver health*
  • Targets canine OA pain and inflammation from first diagnosis**
  • Tasty, pork-flavored chewable tablet for easy daily dosing
  • Helps break the osteoarthritis pain cycle – more movement means less weight gain and less joint stress

Galliprant is the first-of-its-kind, non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug that delivers osteoarthritis (OA) pain and inflammation relief to your dog. Unlike traditional anti-inflammatories, Galliprant works differently by targeting osteoarthritis pain and inflammation at the source, while reducing the impact on kidney and liver health of treated dogs.* This unique drug is safe and approved to use daily, and can be used right from the start of your dog’s osteoarthritis treatment plan for as long as needed – which is important for dogs with a chronic disease like OA.**

Osteoarthritis can be triggered by genetics, breed, body shape, or a number of other risk factors. Once osteoarthritis pain sets in, your dog is less likely to move and may experience weight gain. This can lead to more stress on joints and even more inflammation and pain. But Galliprant helps you bring that joy back to your pup’s daily routine. Galliprant’s unique treatment aims to break the osteoarthritis pain cycle: less pain and inflammation leads to more movement, and that can mean less weight gain and less joint stress for your dog.

That’s why Galliprant makes delivering pain and inflammation relief so easy. Galliprant is a once-daily, pork-flavored, chewable tablet delivering the ultimate convenience in care. It can be given with or without food. Check the product label for information on potential side effects.

Galliprant is available by prescription in 20mg, 60mg, and 100mg doses in 30-count and 90-count packs. Your dog must be at least nine months old and weigh more than 8 lbs. to use Galliprant. The earlier osteoarthritis pain is detected, the sooner your veterinarian can start your dog on treatment. At your next visit, ask your veterinarian if Galliprant could help your dog and protect the moments that matter.

*Monitoring is recommended if used long-term.
**Approved for use in dogs older than 9 months of age and greater than 8 pounds.

Galliprant tablets may be available in multiple strengths and/or sizes. Please ensure the selected product and package size are appropriate for your pet, as recommended by your veterinarian.
*Please note: Only the 20 mg and 60 mg tablets of GALLIPRANT are scored (100 mg tablets are not scored).
For current availability, please refer to the product selection above.

Usage
*For complete product information, please review the full prescribing information in the manufacturer package insert.

Galliprant tablets should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.
This medication can be given with or without food. If your pet vomits or appears unwell after receiving a dose on an empty stomach, give future doses with food or a small treat. If vomiting continues, contact your veterinarian.
Ensure your pet always has access to fresh, clean drinking water while taking this medication.

Manufacturer Dosage and Administration:
Carefully consider the potential benefits and risks of GALLIPRANT and other treatment options before deciding to use GALLIPRANT. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response.

The dose of GALLIPRANT (grapiprant tablets) is 0.9 mg/lb (2 mg/kg) once daily. The dosage should be calculated in half-tablet increments.
Dogs less than 8 lbs. (3.6 kg) cannot be accurately dosed.
For dogs larger than 150 lbs. (68 kg), use a combination of whole and half-tablets to achieve the appropriate dose.

Only the 20 mg and 60 mg tablets of GALLIPRANT are scored. The 100 mg tablet is not scored and should not be broken in half. Breaking the 100 mg tablet in half will not guarantee that half of the active ingredient is contained within each half of the tablet.

Missed doses
Administer the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (at or below 86°F). Keep in a tight, light-resistant container and out of the reach of children and pets. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.

Side effects
The most common side effects of this medication are vomiting, diarrhea or soft stools, decreased appetite, and lethargy.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has complete loss of appetite; extreme fatigue, weakness, or lack of coordination; seizures; extreme behavioral changes (e.g., depression, restlessness); significant changes in activity/energy level, urinary habits, or fluid intake; vomiting that is severe, appears bloody, or has a “coffee grounds” appearance; black, tarry, or bloody stools; pale gums; or if you notice yellowing of the skin, whites of the eyes, and/or gums.

Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.
If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.

Precautions
*For complete product information including warnings and precautions, please refer to the manufacturer package insert.

For oral use in dogs only- not for use in humans. Keep this and all medications out of reach of children and pets. Consult a physician in case of accidental ingestion by humans. Keep GALLIPRANT in a secure location out of reach of dogs, cats, and other animals to prevent accidental ingestion or overdose.
All dogs should undergo a thorough history and physical examination before the initiation of NSAID therapy. Appropriate laboratory tests to establish hematological and serum biochemical baseline data prior to and periodically during administration of any NSAID is recommended.

Do not administer GALLIPRANT in conjunction with any other oral or injectable NSAID or corticosteroid. Consider appropriate washout times when switching from GALLIPRANT to another NSAID (or vice versa) or when switching from corticosteroid use to GALLIPRANT use.

As a class, NSAIDs may be associated with gastrointestinal, renal, and hepatic toxicity. Sensitivity to drug-associated adverse events varies with the individual patient. Dogs that have experienced adverse reactions from one NSAID may experience adverse reactions from another NSAID. Patients at greatest risk for adverse events are those that are dehydrated, on concomitant diuretic therapy, or those with existing renal, cardiovascular, and/or hepatic dysfunction.
The use of GALLIPRANT in dogs with cardiac disease has not been studied.
If GALLIPRANT is used long-term, appropriate monitoring is recommended. The safe use of GALLIPRANT has not been evaluated in dogs younger than 9 months of age and less than 8 lbs. (3.6 kg), dogs used for breeding, or in pregnant or lactating dogs.

Do not administer to animals with a known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to this medication or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

Drug and food interactions
The following drugs* may have potential interactions with this medication: ACE inhibitors (e.g., benazepril, enalapril), ARBs (e.g., telmisartan), beta blockers (e.g., atenolol, sotalol), bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), blood pressure medications (e.g., amlodipine, sildenafil), corticosteroids (e.g., dexamethasone, prednisone), cyclosporine, diuretics (e.g., furosemide, spironolactone), fluoroquinolone antibiotics (e.g., ciprofloxacin), methotrexate, concurrent NSAIDs, salicylates (e.g., aspirin, bismuth subsalicylate), SSRIs (e.g., fluoxetine, sertraline), toceranib (Palladia), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, clomipramine), and warfarin.
