Splinters!
Splintered soon after my dog started chewing it. Large, very sharp splinters. It even says “no splinters” on the front of the tag. That’s why I bought it. This chew stick is very unsafe for dogs!

As the previous reviewer indicated, the description of this chew seems slightly misleading: not sure how it is supposed to sustain aggressive chewers when it breaks apart so easily and shreds all over the floor. The pieces that my pup splintered from the stick WERE sharp- so I am confused by the product descriptions that indicate the wood is soft and does not pose a chocking or puncture threat. Admittedly, I am certainly NOT an expert on safe dog chews or toys (I've gone my whole life thinking Nylabone was "good" for my dogs), it just does not seem as "safe" as we consumers are being led to believe. I WANT to like this chew as much as my pup does, but the thought of her being harmed by this, in pain and me rushing her to the vet for some expensive life-saving procedure makes me pensive- much to my pups disappointment! (SHE LOVES THIS THING!) Maybe we just need more time (culturally) with these alternatives to all those things that can actually hurt our sweet puppies...but maybe, like rawhide, we will learn this is one of the WORST things we could gift our dogs...juries out! I HOPE it's just a learning curve (and a quality issue - how does Incredipet Coffee Wood compare to other brands Feeders does not carry?)
This item splintered into sharp pieces within a minute of my dog starting to chew. I thought he had cracked a tooth when I heard the loud cracking/popping noise but it was the chew splintering into several pieces. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD FOR A DOG!
