Gracie, my adorable Golden girl gradually put on weight. At the Vet she weighed in at 122 lbs! She was not active, kept laying down, wouldn’t stand for any prolonged period of time. She was diagnosed with being overweight, of course. But the Vet examined her and said she exhibited pain in her hips when she stood. Not hip dysplasia, but more joint inflammation from excessive weight. So she explained to me that my “loving” her with her food and treats along with some human food tossed in, I was at fault for her developing pain! I felt awful. So I seriously took her advice and got her on a strict regime of 3/4 cup dry food in AM and in the PM. This was back in July of this year. Yes, at first she would give me that soulful look at her meager diet. I decided upon the Intuition brand as I trusted their formulation. Long story short, she is now down to 95 lbs! She has accepted and loves her food, too! Her weight goal is 80 lbs, being an English Golden she has a broader, heftier bone frame than the American Golden. So, now I am gradually increasing her food to one cup twice a day to begin to level off her weight loss. Now, she romps and plays like she did 8 years ago as a puppy!
