Usage
For additional product information, please refer to the product label and the full Prescribing Information provided in the manufacturer’s package insert.
IVERHART MAX Chew should be given orally at monthly intervals year-round, or as otherwise directed by your veterinarian.
Manufacturer Dosage and Administration:
IVERHART MAX Chew should be administered orally at monthly intervals and the recommended minimum dose level of 6 mcg of ivermectin per kilogram (2.72 mcg/ lb), 5 mg of pyrantel (as pamoate salt) per kg (2.27 mg/lb), and 5 mg of praziquantel per kg (2.27 mg/lb) of body weight.
Remove only one dose at a time from the packaging. Return the remaining chews to their box to protect from light.
The chew can be offered to the dog by hand or added, intact, to a small amount of dog food. Care should be taken to ensure that the dog consumes the complete dose. The treated dog should be observed for a few minutes after administration to confirm that none of the dose has been lost or rejected. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost, redosing is recommended.
Missed doses
If a dose is missed: give IVERHART MAX Chew immediately to resume monthly dosing and notify your veterinarian. Do not give two doses at once.
If multiple doses have been missed, consult your veterinarian prior to restarting the monthly dosing schedule. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (68-77°F, excursions permitted between 59 and 86°F). Keep in a secure location out of the reach of children and pets. Protect product from light.
Remove only one dose at a time from the packaging. Return the remaining chews to their box to protect from light. Chews should remain sealed in their original packaging and only taken out at the time of dosing.
Exposure to extreme temperatures, light, or moisture can affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store medications properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).
Side effects
For additional product information regarding potential side effects, please refer to the product label and Prescribing Information.
IVERHART MAX Chew is well tolerated, and side effects are considered uncommon when given at the recommended dosage.
Following the use of IVERHART MAX Chew, gastrointestinal and neurological side effects have been reported. These effects include (but may not be limited to) vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, excessive salivation, decreased appetite, licking lips, and belching.
Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences severe/excessive drooling, seizures or tremors, or exhibits decreased coordination (e.g., staggering, stumbling, difficulty walking).
Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.
If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.
Precautions
Before using this product, please review the product label and full Prescribing Information for important safety information, including any relevant warnings and precautions.
For oral use in dogs only. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children and animals.
All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before and 6 months after starting treatment with IVERHART MAX Chew, which is not effective against adult Dirofilaria immitis. Infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae before initiating a heartworm prevention program.
While some microfilariae may be killed by the ivermectin in IVERHART MAX Chew at the recommended dose level, IVERHART MAX Chew is not effective for microfilariae clearance. A mild hypersensitivity-type reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae and particularly involving a transient diarrhea, has been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae.
Use with caution in sick, debilitated, or underweight animals and dogs weighing less than 10 lbs. The safe use of this drug has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating animals.
Do not administer this medication to animals with a known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to IVERHART MAX Chew or any other avermectin, tetrahydropyrimidine, or pyrazinoisoquinoline drugs. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.
Drug and food interactions
While there are no documented drug or food interactions with this medication when given at the recommended dosage, potential interactions may still be possible.
Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and/or supplements are given together.
Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.

If you are concerned that your pet has experienced an adverse reaction to this medication, please contact the manufacturer Virbac AH at 1-800-338-3659 or Vetsource Pet Owner Care at 877-738-4443.
