Usage
For additional product information, please refer to the product label and the full Prescribing Information provided in the manufacturer’s package insert.
Iverhart PLUS should be given orally at monthly intervals year-round, or as otherwise directed by your veterinarian.

Manufacturer recommended usage:
IVERHART PLUS (ivermectin/pyrantel) Flavored Chewables should be administered orally at monthly intervals at the recommended minimum dose level of 6 mcg of ivermectin per kilogram (2.72 mcg/lb) and 5 mg of pyrantel (as pamoate salt) per kg (2.27 mg/lb) of body weight.

Remove only one chewable at a time from the foil-backed blister card. Return the card with the remaining chewables to its box to protect the product from light.
Because most dogs find IVERHART PLUS Flavored Chewables palatable, the product can be offered to the dog by hand. To avoid the risk of choking or intestinal obstruction, the chewable should be administered in a manner that encourages the dog to chew, rather than to swallow without chewing. Chewables may be broken into pieces and fed to dogs that normally swallow treats whole. Alternatively, it may be added intact to a small amount of dog food to encourage chewing, but care should be taken to ensure that the dog consumes the complete dose at one time.
Treated animals should be observed for a few minutes after administration to ensure that part of the dose is not lost or rejected. If it is suspected that any of the dose has been lost, redosing is recommended.

Missed doses
If a dose is missed: give IVERHART PLUS immediately to resume monthly dosing and notify your veterinarian. Do not give two doses at once.
If multiple doses have been missed, consult your veterinarian prior to restarting the monthly dosing schedule. If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please contact your veterinarian.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (68-77°F, excursions permitted between 59 and 86°F). Keep in a secure location out of the reach of children and pets. Protect this product from light.
Remove only one chewable at a time from the foil-backed blister card. Return the card with the remaining chewables to its box to protect the product from light. Tablets should remain sealed in their original packaging and only taken out of the blister pack at the time of dosing.
Exposure to extreme temperatures or moisture may affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store medications properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).

Side effects
For additional product information regarding potential side effects, please refer to the product label and Prescribing Information.
IVERHART PLUS is well tolerated, and side effects are considered uncommon when given at the recommended dosage. The most common side effects of this medication are vomiting and diarrhea.

In rare cases, digestive or neurological side effects have been reported following the use of IVERHART PLUS Flavored Chewables. These effects include (but may not be limited to) lethargy, decreased appetite, seizures, ataxia (decreased muscle coordination), muscle tremors, hypersalivation (drooling), and itching.
Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet experiences severe/excessive drooling, seizures or tremors, or exhibits decreased coordination (e.g., staggering, stumbling, difficulty walking).

Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.
If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.

Precautions
Before using this product, please review the product label and full Prescribing Information for important safety information, including any relevant warnings and precautions.
For use in dogs only. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children and animals.

All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with IVERHART PLUS Flavored Chewables, which are not effective against adult D. immitis. Infected dogs must be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae before initiating a program with IVERHART PLUS Flavored Chewables.
While some microfilariae may be killed by the ivermectin in IVERHART PLUS Flavored Chewables at the recommended dose level, IVERHART PLUS Flavored Chewables are not effective for microfilariae clearance. A mild hypersensitivity-type reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae and particularly involving a transient diarrhea, has been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae.
Choking or intestinal obstruction has been reported after dosing with ivermectin/pyrantel. For dogs that normally swallow treats whole, chewables may be broken into pieces.

Do not administer IVERHART PLUS to animals with a known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to any avermectin or tetrahydropyrimidine drug, including this medication or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Please inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known sensitivities or allergies, especially to medications and supplements.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; and widespread hives or itching.

Drug and food interactions
While there are no documented drug or food interactions with this medication when given at the recommended dosage, potential interactions may still be possible.
Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when multiple medications and/or supplements are given together.

Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications, supplements, and over-the-counter (OTC) products that your pet is currently using. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.

Adverse reactions
If you are concerned that your pet has experienced an adverse reaction to this medication, please contact the manufacturer Virbac AH at 1-800-338-3659 or Vetsource Pet Owner Care at 877-738-4443.

Overdose
If you have any reason to suspect an overdose, call your doctor/veterinarian or the appropriate poison control resource immediately.
