Usage
Mirataz® Transdermal Ointment should be given as directed by your veterinarian. Wear gloves when handling & applying, wash hands after use.  Apply to the inside of your cats ear once daily. Avoid contact between the treated cat and people or other animals for 2 hours after application.
Discard open tube within 30 days of first use. 
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
The most common side effects have been application-site reactions, increased vocalization, hyperactivity, and vomiting.  If these symptoms persist, contact your veterinarian. Notify your veterinarian if symptoms are troublesome and continue.  Other side effects may occur.  If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
Mirtazapine should not be used in combinations with other antidepressants. The following drugs can potentially interact with mirtazapine: clonidine, diazepam, fluvoxamine, linezolid, selegiline, amitraz, and tramadol. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication or supplements you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. 
Cautions
Mirataz® is for use under veterinary supervision only.  Do not use in cats with a known hypersensitivity to mirtazapine or any of the exipients.  Do not use in cats treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Not for human use.  Keep out of reach of children.  Wear gloves when handling/applying and wash hands after use. Use with caution in cats with hepatic and kidney disease.  Safety has not been evaluated in cats less than 2 kg, less than 6 months of age, or in breeding, pregnant, or lactating cats. Food intake should be monitored upon discontinuation of medication.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your horse has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; widespread hives and itching.

Storage
Store below 77°F in controlled room temperature. Keep this medicine out of reach of children. Store in a childproof container. Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
