NexGard PLUS (afoxolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) is available in five sizes of beef-flavored, soft chewables for oral administration to dogs and puppies according to their weight. One monthly dose delivers a full 30 days of protection from fleas, ticks, heartworm disease, roundworms, and hookworms. NexGard PLUS is approved for puppies from 8 weeks of age and weighing 4 lbs. or more.
NexGard PLUS is approved for prevention of Lyme infections as a direct result of killing black-legged ticks (Ixodes scapularis).

NexGard PLUS should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian.
This medication can be given with or without food. Care should be taken to ensure that your dog consumes the complete dose, and that part of the dose is not lost or refused.
This medication should be administered to your dog year-round at monthly (every 30 day) intervals for continuous protection from heartworm disease, fleas, ticks, roundworms, and hookworms. For dogs over 132 lbs., administer the appropriate combination of tablets to ensure complete protection.
For heartworm disease prevention, NexGard PLUS should be given once monthly for at least six months after the dog’s last exposure to mosquitoes.
Remove only 1 tablet at a time from the foil-backed blister card and return the card to the box to protect from light. Tablets should remain sealed and only taken out of the blister pack at the time of dosing.
Missed doses
If a dose is missed: give NexGard PLUS immediately to resume monthly dosing and consult your veterinarian. Do not give two doses at once.
If multiple doses have been missed, consult your veterinarian prior to restarting the monthly dosing schedule.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (at or below 77°F, with excursions permitted up to 104°F). Keep this medication in its original packaging and out of the reach of children and pets. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
Side effects
NexGard PLUS is generally well tolerated, and side effects are uncommon when given at the usual dosage. The most frequently reported side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and itching.
Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has a seizure after taking this medication.
Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.

For oral use in dogs only- not for use in humans. Keep this and all drugs in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals to prevent accidental ingestion or overdose.
Afoxolaner, one of the ingredients in NexGard PLUS, is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders.
Prior to administration of NexGard PLUS, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections.
The safe use of NexGard PLUS in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated.
Do not administer to animals with a known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to this medication or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways, difficulty breathing, agitation, profuse salivation, and widespread hives or itching.
Drug and food interactions
There are no documented drug or food interactions with NexGard PLUS.
Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications and supplements that your pet is currently receiving. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In these instances, your veterinarian may adjust the dosages or monitor your pet more closely.
