Usage
Prascend® Tablets should be given to your horse as directed by your veterinarian.  Do not crush the tablets. Wear gloves when handling.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
Side effects may include decreased appetite and lack of energy.  More rarely, some horses may experience:  lameness, diarrhea/loose stools, colic, abnormal weight loss, and mild behavioral changes. Contact your veterinarian if your horse experiences any of the above rare and/or serious side effects.
Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
The following drugs can potentially interact with pergolide: metoclopramide and dopamine antagonists (e.g. phenothiazines). Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your horse. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your horse more closely.
Cautions
Pregnant or lactating women should wear gloves when administering this product. It has been reported that pergolide tablets may cause eye irritation, an irritating smell, or headache when Prascend Tablets are split or crushed. Prascend® Tablets should not be crushed due to the potential for increased human exposure and care should be taken to minimize exposure when splitting tablets. Store this product separately away from human medicinal products and handle this product with care to avoid accidental ingestion.
Not for use in humans. Do not ingest the product. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. Prascend® should not be administered by persons who have had adverse reactions to ergotamine or other ergot derivatives. Pergolide, like other ergot derivatives, may cause emesis, dizziness, lethargy or low blood pressure. In case of accidental ingestion seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label to the physician.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your horse has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your horse displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; widespread hives and itching.
