Product Information
Product details
VETMEDIN®-CA1 (pimobendan) Chewable Tablets for Dogs are indicated for the delay of onset of congestive heart failure in dogs with Stage B2 preclinical myxomatous mitral valve disease.
  • Recommended for dogs diagnosed with Stage B2 preclinical MMVD, VETMEDIN®-CA1 (pimobendan) can be used for the delay of onset of congestive heart failure.
  • May prolong the number of symptom-free days in dogs.
  • VETMEDIN®-CA1 helps dogs continue to engage in the daily activities they enjoy.
  • Available as a beef-flavored, chewable tablet in 2 convenient dosing sizes (1.25 mg and 5 mg).
  • Meets FDA standards of product safety, stability, and strength

VETMEDIN®-CA1 (pimobendan) chewable tablets is conditionally approved for the treatment of dogs with myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) in the pre-clinical stage B2 (asymptomatic with a murmur/abnormal heart sounds and evidence of increased heart size) to delay onset of clinical signs of heart failure. Conditionally approved by FDA pending a full demonstration of effectiveness under application number 141-556 (please see full prescribing information).

Given every 12 hours, the unique dual action of VETMEDIN®-CA1 dilates the blood vessels carrying blood to and from the heart—reducing the overall load on the heart—while simultaneously improving the ability of the heart muscle to contract.

The active ingredient in VETMEDIN®-CA1 (pimobendan) helps the heart muscle to contract (pump) more effectively and it dilates blood vessels which reduces the amount of force with which the heart needs to pump blood.

Your veterinarian has prescribed VETMEDIN®-CA1 (pimobendan) because your dog has been diagnosed with myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) at a stage classified as B2 (asymptomatic with a murmur and evidence of significant heart size increase). Although your dog may not have any visible signs of heart disease, VETMEDIN®-CA1 can be used to delay the progression of MMVD to heart failure.
