Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurological disorders.Dogs need parasite protection year-round. NexGard PLUS chews are designed for monthly dosing that’s a delight for your dog month after month.Fleas pose an ever-present risk for dogs in many parts of the country. While the risk of flea infestations may be higher during warmer months, they can occur at any point throughout the year. NexGard PLUS chewables kill adult fleas fast, before they can lay eggs, for a full month. NexGard PLUS chewables are also approved to kill five species of ticks – including the four species that are most commonly found on dogs in the US.²Heartworm disease is a serious condition that can cause permanent damage – and just one bite from an infected mosquito could put your pet at risk for this potentially deadly disease. Cases of heartworm disease have been reported in all 50 states – in both indoor and outdoor pets.³ The American Heartworm Society recommends that all pets receive heartworm disease prevention year-round. Care should be taken to ensure that your dog consumes the complete dose, and that part of the dose is not lost or refused.This medication should be administered to your dog year-round at monthly (every 30 day) intervals for continuous protection from heartworm disease, fleas, ticks, roundworms, and hookworms. For dogs over 132 lbs., administer the appropriate combination of tablets to ensure complete protection.For heartworm disease prevention, NexGard PLUS should be given once monthly for at least six months after the dog’s last exposure to mosquitoes.Remove only 1 tablet at a time from the foil-backed blister card and return the card to the box to protect from light. Tablets should remain sealed and only taken out of the blister pack at the time of dosing.Missed dosesIf a dose is missed: give NexGard PLUS immediately to resume monthly dosing and consult your veterinarian. Do not give two doses at once.If multiple doses have been missed, consult your veterinarian prior to restarting the monthly dosing schedule.StorageStore in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (at or below 77°F, with excursions permitted up to 104°F). Keep this medication in its original packaging and out of the reach of children and pets. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.Side effectsNexGard PLUS is generally well tolerated, and side effects are uncommon when given at the usual dosage. The most frequently reported side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and itching.Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has a seizure after taking this medication.Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.Precautions*For complete product information including warnings and precautions, please refer to the manufacturer package insert.For oral use in dogs only- not for use in humans. Keep this and all drugs in a secure location out of the reach of children and animals to prevent accidental ingestion or overdose.Afoxolaner, one of the ingredients in NexGard PLUS, is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures. Seizures have been reported in dogs receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders.Treatment with fewer than six monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes has not been fully evaluated and may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Prior to administration of NexGard PLUS chews, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection. At the discretion of the veterinarian, infected dogs should be treated with an adulticide to remove adult heartworms. NexGard PLUS chews are not effective against adult D. immitis.The safe use of NexGard PLUS in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated.Do not administer to animals with a known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to this medication or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways, difficulty breathing, agitation, profuse salivation, and widespread hives or itching.Drug and food interactionsThere are no documented drug or food interactions with NexGard PLUS.Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.Please ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications and supplements that your pet is currently receiving. Your veterinarian may prescribe multiple medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur.
