Usage
Pentoxifylline ER Tablets should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule.
This medication should be given with food.

Always follow your veterinarian's instructions; while extended-release tablets are not typically designed to be split, it is acceptable to do so for this medication when recommended by your veterinarian. Splitting these tablets may be recommended when precise dosing for smaller animals is required.
Crushing these tablets should generally be avoided, as this may increase the risk of adverse effects.

Missed doses
Administer the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.

Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.
If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.

Precautions
Do NOT use this medication in animals with active (or history of) bleeding in the brain or eyes.

Use with caution in animals with a history of seizures, severe kidney or liver impairment/disease, and those who are at risk for excessive bleeding (e.g., taking an anticoagulant).
Safe use of this medication has not been established and should be used with caution in breeding, pregnant, or lactating animals. Discuss the risks of using this medication with your veterinarian if your pet is in one of these groups.

Do not administer to animals with a known history or suspected allergy/hypersensitivity to any xanthine derivative (e.g., caffeine, theophylline), including this medication or any of its ingredients. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.
