Usage
Posatex® Otic Suspension should be applied as directed by your veterinarian. Clean and dry affected area prior to use. Gently place the applicator tip partially into your pet’s ear. Gently squeeze the prescribed amount of medicine (usually in drops) into the ear canal. A few drops of medication can also be applied to the outer ear if instructed by your veterinarian. Wipe off the applicator tip with a tissue and replace the cap. Gently massage the ear. Shake well before use.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
Side effects are expected to be minimal with the proper topical use of this product. Possible side effects may include skin irritation and redness. Talk to your veterinarian about any side effect that seems unusual or bothersome to your pet.
Drug & Food Interactions
There are no documented drug interactions with this medication. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, and a drug interaction may be anticipated. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Cautions
Posatex® Otic Suspension is contraindicated in dogs with known or suspected hypersensitivity to quinolones, mometasone furoate monohydrate, or posaconazole. Do not use in dogs with known tympanic perforation. Do not administer orally. Immediately discontinue use of Posatex® Otic Suspension if hearing loss is observed during treatment. The safety of this medication has not been evaluated in pregnant, breeding, or nursing animals. Avoid prolonged or repeated use of Posatex® Otic Suspension. Long-term use of topical otic corticosteroids has been associated with adrenocortical suppression and iatrogenic hyperadrenocorticism in dogs. The systemic administration of quinolones has been shown to produce cartilage erosions of weight bearing joints and other signs of arthropathy in immature animals of various species.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.

Storage
Store at 35.6°F to 86°F in controlled room temperature. Keep this medicine out of reach of children. Store in a childproof container. Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
