Timolol 0.5% Ophthalmic Solution

Timolol 0.5% Ophthalmic Solution is a beta-blocker that decreases pressure in the eye by decreasing the amount of aqueous humour (fluid) that is produced by the eye. It is used to treat cases of glaucoma to reduce intraocular pressure of the eye.

Timolol 0.5% Ophthalmic Solution 10 ml: clear, colorless solution. (NDC 61314-0227-10)

Timolol 0.5% Ophthalmic Solution should be administered as directed by your veterinarian.  Administer prescribed dose by pulling down on the bottom lid of your pet’s eye and dropping the prescribed drop(s) into the eye. Exercise proper caution not to touch the dropper or tube opening to any surface including eyes or hands as that may contaminate the sterile surface. Wash hands before and after application. If using with other eye drops, separate dosing by 5 minutes.
After opening, can be used until the expiration date on the bottle.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule.  Do not give the pet two doses at once.
Side Effects
Side effects may include tearing, redness, smaller pupils, blurring of vision, and itching which may result in your pet rubbing their eyes. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
Inform your veterinarian prior to use of this medication what other medication you are giving to your pet, including but not limited to other eye drops and/or eye medications. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. 
This medication does not have an FDA approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals.
Inform your veterinarian if your pet has asthma, lung disease or heart failure, diabetes, circulation problems, thyroid disorder, kidney disease or liver disease prior to start of treatment with this medication.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.

Store long term between 59°F to 86°F.  Protect from freezing. Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep the bottle capped when not in use.  Discard if color changes, becomes cloudy, or if particles are observed in the solution. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
